How to capture a Mac window with padding and shadow

Window presentation is enabled by default

When Clipture recognizes a window, the exported image includes a small amount of breathing room and a soft shadow around the window. The treatment is applied after capturing the window surface, so the content itself is not resized or blurred.

This works well for release notes, help documents, issue reports, and product posts where a raw edge-to-edge window capture feels cramped.

Hold Option for an exact capture

Hold Option while confirming the window to remove the presentation padding and shadow for that capture. This is useful when measuring pixels, comparing UI states, or passing the image to another design tool.

The Option key changes only the output treatment. It does not change the selected window, image resolution, or annotation behavior.

Several windows use one shared canvas

For a Shift-selected group, Clipture creates one composition canvas and draws the selected windows in their visible order. Shared padding is kept outside the complete composition so one window's white margin does not cover another window.
