How to capture several Mac windows in one screenshot

Select real windows instead of a desktop rectangle

Press Control-Command-A, move the pointer over the first window, then hold Shift while clicking additional windows. Clipture highlights the union of the selected window shapes, rather than drawing a bounding rectangle around the entire group.

The exported image is composed from the selected window surfaces. Empty gaps remain transparent or use the chosen presentation background, while unrelated windows and wallpaper are excluded.

One outline around adjoining windows

When selected windows touch or overlap, Clipture calculates their outer contour. Internal edges are not drawn as duplicate selection borders, which makes the selection easier to read before capture.

The front-to-back order follows the visible macOS window order. Padding and shadow are applied to the completed composition instead of adding an opaque margin around every individual window.

Useful for comparisons and documentation

Multi-window capture is useful when comparing two app states, documenting a workflow across several windows, or showing a source window beside its result. Hold Option during capture when you need the original window pixels without presentation padding.
